A Savior Is Born Rocks Tell The Story of Christmas Book Review

Our 25 Books of Christmas countdown continues with the creative and unique Rocks Tell The Story Of Christmas A Savior Is Born by Patti Rokus. This book has been my personal favorite so far because the visuals are just beautiful. It also leads to a creative activity that all the kids enjoyed.

You can find this book here!

This is one is a fairly short read but the discussions to go along with the photos can be quite entertaining. It is amazing what they did with the rocks to create the story in photos. I would love to see the artist’s rock collection. My son who also likes to collect odd shaped rocks would definitely be jealous. I was very much impressed with the imagery.

The story of the birth of Jesus is told with Bible verse references but in a simplistic way for the kids. The focus is on the artwork made with the special placement of stones to create the various different images. The background is a solid black to keep the focus on the pictures.

The best thing about this book is that it encourages the kids to create artwork with rocks as well. It asks them what they can imagine. We have often used rocks to create different artworks in the past which is something we really enjoy. I love that this book encourages the imaginations and creativity of kids to form their own artwork. After they see all the lovely pages in this book they will have plenty of inspiration!
