Night Night Devotions Book Review

I’m always on the look out for awesome books as most of you know by now. I am a proclaimed bookoholic. I also have a deep love for devotional books especially kids ones that I can share with the littles. Night Night Devotions is perfect for those calm bonding moments right before bed. It is a really good transitional tool to add to the bedtime routine.

There are 90 devotionals inside and I think it is a book that once you finish, you can start all over again. The lessons are quick which is good but also have questions to lead into a discussion. The stories are interesting and each lesson also has a quick prayer the kids can say before bed. They always end in Night Night.

Each devotional has a cute little image for the kids to look at while you read to them. The age range for this one would be 3 to around 7 and the questions really are aimed at that age group. I like books with questions especially devotionals for a few reasons. One is that it leads into discussions and some of the best talks we have had came from a questions. You can see what the kids are thinking without leading them. Another good thing about asking questions is that they pay more attention to the over all lesson. Sometimes a story is a story and they don’t really retain anything from it but if you ask a few questions they have to think about the answers and the story.

Book Description:

Bedtime is the perfect opportunity to snuggle your little ones close and remind them of God’s presence and love. In this book of 100 devotions for kids ages 3–7, bestselling author Amy Parker and illustrator Virginia Allyn invite you to begin a tradition of prayer and devotions with your children to carry them through the years to come.

Each of the devotions in Night Night Devotions begins with a Bible verse and includes Night Night questions to encourage interaction with your children. If you want to use the book as a companion to Night Night Bible Stories, the devotions have corresponding titles that accompany each Bible story—with much more in between! Each devotion ends with a rhyming Night Night Prayer that emphasizes God’s love and care, such as . . .

Dear God, I love You more than

There are fishes in the sea,

But there’s no way that I could love You

More than You love me!

Night night, God.

With cheerful, colorful artwork and sweet Night Night rhymes, this devotional is sure to become your family’s new bedtime favorite.
