YWAM Publishing Heroes of History- Louis Zamperini Book Review
Once again we have had the chance to review one of the Heroes of History books from YWAM Publishing. This time we read and were able to learn about the life of Heroes of History- Louis Zamperini. We also were able to increase the learning experience with their printable Study Guides. There are many different books about different characters available. Check out their site to see them all!
I fell in love with the Heroes of History books last year when we reviewed Corrie ten Boom. The writing style has kept my kids engaged and eager to keep reading. The reason I picked this book is that with the recent movies that have come out, there has been a lot of interest in Louis Zamperini at my house. I thought that interest would make them even more eager to read about him and complete the study guides.
Louis Zamperini is a man we can all admire and a wonderful role model for us all. He withstood a lot to find his way back home and over came his demons with God’s help. His story is a powerful testament to what a person can go through and how far down we can be but still GOD can bring us back up. It is amazing how much he went through and survived. God had a plan for him most definitely. You take a journey like no other through his life learning lessons and seeing in the end that God has a plan for us all.
This set of books is full of stories about amazing people who went through the darkest times of their lives. They then used those struggles to change the world and the hearts of people everywhere. I can’t wait to read another one. There are so many of them to pick from that each time I look at the list I have such a hard time picking the next one I want to read! I know the kids have a list of the people they want to read about.
The books are wrote in a very easy to read font. The wording chosen was interesting but easy enough for even my youngest to understand. The study guides that are available are great ways to expand on the lesson. I think the study guides are better suited for the older students because they are fairly involved. They have a good bit of writing in them. The older two have learned so much from them.
The study guide is rich with information. They have quotes to learn as well as time lines and maps. They learn terms and places as well as additional information about history and social studies. There are a few quotes that they highlight from people that gave us some great conversations starters.
