Gemmies Make Crystal Creations Review Holiday Gift Guide
For me, the hardest age so far to buy for has been 11. My daughter is in the age gap for present buying, “too old” for dolls and toys but still young enough to want more than clothes and grown up stuff. Gummies is one of those special gifts that fall perfectly into that gap.
Gem mixes are beads that snap onto rubber bands to create gem animals, shapes, jewelry, or anything they can think of. My oldest was pretty excited to try them. I thought after seeing all the pieces that it would be one of those one time and then I would be the one creating animals with the gems. I was wrong. CB helped me to sort out all the beads into the little drawer and cups that the workstation has. There were so many beads included and several different colors.
There were also instructions and guides included to create different shapes. CB chose to make a dog. The instructions fit onto the work station for easy access and a place to work with the beads to keep them sorted and in reach.
The workstation is pretty neat. It is purple with a drawer that pulls out and places to sort out the beads. The top has a place for the instructions to fit and little cups to fill with you are working on. There is also a light up pedestal to light up your finished creations. The set comes with a good bit of beads to work with along with lots of rubber bands to use.
The beads clip on to the rubber bands easily. The instructions are a bit difficult to follow at first and did take some time to figure out but once we figured it out we did get a flow going. It took about a half hour to complete her dog. There were moments of frustration but in the end she felt a sense of accomplishment.
Her dog turned out adorably. It was right on target so we had to test out the light up pad. It was so cute! She named him Peteo and gave him to her little sister for her dolls to have a pet.
The best part was her creative use of the beads. She then began to make jewelry with them. She made several bracelets and rings for Lou, herself, and me. She also made jewelry for the ladies at church. She had so much fun using them to create designer jewelry pieces that she has added Gemmies to her Christmas list so she can make more.
