I was recently asked what a 10 year old girl would want for Christmas. I suppose this question was directed at me because I have a 10 year old girl and not because I was one a while ago. Things have certainly changed since I was 10. I thought of a lot of things my daughter would want such as clothes, shoes, pig shaped baking dishes…but then I realized that the child they are shopping for might not be such a swine enthusiast. I also realized the child they were shopping for didn’t have the privileges that I have been bless to be able to provide for my daughter. I recommended getting the child a coat, gloves, and hat…maybe even a pair of boots but they didn’t know the child’s size. I told them to let me think about it and get back to them. So I made a list like a real blogger would do. Look at me being all list making and making a list and stuff. 🙂 I feel kinda fancy.
Such as Froodles Fruit Strips. Healthy treats instead of candy can be a great way to start that New Year’s Resolution off with a head start. Dried fruit strips with no added sugar or preservatives. Also snacks and treats are great add ons to gifts.
Any little girl would love to get a bottle or two of nail polish in their stocking. I know my threenager loves to paint my nails. We found these princess polishes at Walmart. They don’t stain anything and are great for those little hands to give out tons of manicures. I also seen this lovely painting done only in nail polish a little while ago, nail polish makes a great art medium.
Cold Weather Gear
Hats, gloves, and scarves are great for older kids especially if they live in a colder area. If you crochet or knit you could make them yourself. Or you could go with fuzzy socks. Fuzzy socks are awesome.
When in doubt bring out the LEGOs. You can’t go wrong with LEGOs.
Activity books, reading books, craft books, picture books… books are a gift that keeps on giving.
Crayons and Art Materials
Crayons, coloring book, notebooks, or anything to write or draw in is also something that is great for any kid. Encourage those little creative beings with some materials and just sit back and see what happens.
Anything the can build with would be a great hit. Magnetic blocks to build house such as these from Build&Imagine are a great way for them to get creative and have fun at the same time.
A good detangling brush can be the best gift ever to a little girl who hates to get her hair brushed. Not only can you include brushes but also combs, hair bows, scrunchies, and anything they can use to groom themselves.
There are probably tons more ideas but it’s getting time for me to get to work so if you want to share your ideas for my friend…visit us on Facebook and send them to us. I’m sure she would love to hear some more ideas!
