3 Ingredient Homemade Finger Paint

I am not going to call this edible finger paint. Technically it could be digested without harm but it is not what I would consider edible. 🙂 It also doesn’t dry very well. Although it is a lot of fun to play with and SUPER easy to clean up. I consider this a sensory activity instead of an art activity.

I am not a measuring person also I didn’t have a whole box of corn starch because of another fun messy activity involving corn starch and water…. Just use 1 part water to every 4 parts corn starch in a pan and boil till it begins to thicken. Once it begins to thicken take it off the heat and dish it in to separate cups. Add food coloring and stir. That is all there is to it.

We used paper plates because of their thickness and ability to stand up to more than paper. She said she was painting a rainbow.

This is why I consider this more of a sensory activity. She gets her hands all in that goop and has so much fun.

Also the unique side to the corn starch recipe is that it feels more like a gel and if you give them a popsicle stick while they are playing they can use it to draw pictures inside of their pictures.

And while they are covered in the stuff already, you can have them make cute hand print keepsakes… even though you will have to keepsake it in photo form. The stuff doesn’t dry well.

She also made a picture of the globe… Well that was what she called it. Here it is, Planet Earth according to a toddler and her finger painting. I asked her where she lived, that pink spot close to the top is where she pointed. She lives in a pink castle she said.
