Nothing Like a Heart Shaped Cookie… except a Heart Shaped Cookie Covered in Icing

I have decided that it’s time to learn how to actually use this camera of mine… So far I realize I need to buy a new lens to play with, I will be looking into that soon. 🙂 Here are some cookie pictures I took recently of a kid decorated cookies session. As you can see, there was some taste testing going on as well, maybe by the kids… maybe not :). These were taken with my Nikon D3200 on my new craft/blog area. I really think there is some improvement and movement in a better direction. I think my favorite is the plate picture, there is something about that white on grey contrast that I like.

For these cookies they did a layer of cookie icing and then dashed (sometimes in layers) them with sugar sprinkles. Bub also found a thing of star sprinkles so they were added too. 🙂 They were pretty good but ended up kinda on the hard side. That is what I get for using precut cookie dough I suppose, although they looked amazing. The cookie icing tasted really good. I love the taste of royal icing but I am the only one in the house that does. I love how cookies look with royal icing but with no one else in favor of the flavor I just usually make simple basic sugar cookie or chocolate chips. I had to eat most of these by myself because of the covering of sugary sweetness, well me and the tot who never says no to a cookie… such a hard hard job… hehe…

A good recipe to make royal icing. or if you want a good eggless version.

  1. I’m in full agreement that the only thing I like more than a cookie is a heart-shaped cookie. And the only thing I like more than a heart-shaped cookie is a heart-shaped cookie with icing.

  2. hmmm…how does the royal icing taste? I’ve always wanted to try it but …I’m not sure! Your pics look great!
