Sea Life Aquarium in Concord North Carolina

Sea Life Aquarium in Concord North Carolina

Concord Mills

8111 Concord Mills Blvd, Concord, NC 28027

This past weekend three things happened that kept me from touching any and all social media.

First my daughter turned 9. We took her away for the a couple of days to celebrate.

Second Easter was Sunday and we celebrated with my husband’s family where the kids did the egg hunt thing. And there was food…. lots and lots of food. So food coma set in afterward and it was nap time.

Third was the trip to the new Aquarium in Charlotte in the Concord Mills Mall. Which is what I’m going to talk about now.

Jellyfish are my favorite.

I was contacted a couple of months ago to visit and write about the new Aquarium they built in the Concord Mills Mall. We don’t really live all that far from there so I said okay. I didn’t really plan on this trip to fall on Bear’s birthday, that was just a happy coincidence.

The Sea Life Aquarium in Concord is rather unusual in comparison to all the other aquariums I have visited. It’s built inside a mall, but it is a HUGE mall so there was plenty of room… and people.

SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord sends guests through a 36,000 square foot interactive aquarium experience that brings you face-to-face with over 5,000 creatures including sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, seahorses and much more!

What to Expect:

  • LOTS of fish.. All different kinds. Sharks to jelly fish…
  • Learn about protecting our sea life.
  • They give you a card book to stamp and use to learn even more information.
  • The have an area for smaller children to play and have fun.
  • Immerse yourself into a underwater world design specifically for kids.

When you first go in they put you in a room that looks like a submarine to take you down to the sea world. They play a little cartoon about sea conservation that the kids really enjoyed. Then you go into the place where they keep the fishes.

Lots and lots of beautiful fishes.

They have a touch station where you can touch starfish and other sea life. They also have some very helpful attendants that they kids really liked.

Then they have thousands of fish. They also have lots of information about the fish. Every where you look you can learn about sea life.

Lou loved the fishes.

They have a shark tunnel to view the sharks and other fishes. The kids loved this part of the trip. I think they would stay there for hours if we let them.

They even have a place for the kids to unwind and have some fun. Which we did not partake in. There was a good many people and I didn’t want to loose the three I went in with. Bub doesn’t do the play equipment thing anyway, he doesn’t do heights, climbing, or sliding down tubes well.

Then they have the gift shop which was pretty much amazing.

So we were in and out in around an hour and the kids had a blast. When you come out they give the kids all a prize. An award for learning about all the sea life.

  1. A very nice Aquarium to take the family to! We are about 2 hours from the Atlanta Aquarium which is huge and makes for a fun day. I have relatives who live in the Concord area. I’ll have to ask if they have been yet!

  2. It’s a very nice place to visit. Although it wouldn’t take the place of the larger Aquariums. It has it’s own special place as in if you want somewhere to take the kids for a treat. A big aquarium is an all day excursion where as this is about an hour to two trip. 🙂

  3. FUN DAY! I don’t think I could spend a day looking at fish so this seems to be the perfect balance of activity and time. And as long as the kids have fun, all is well. The last thing we need is “I’m boooored.” lol

  4. We have done the big aquarium thing several times. This was perfect for just a fun little visit. Next time we go we are going to hit the history museum for my history buff.. That should be fun!
